iTunesLifeJuggling interests & career April 20 低调的帮助早上地铁站。地铁徐徐进站，屏蔽门打开前我发现有一空位，纳闷为什么旁边站着的人不坐。进去才发现位子前蹲着一个人。他皮肤黝黑，由于很久未打扫个人卫生，头发油光发亮，身上还发出阵阵异味。 他斜对面坐着一位30多岁的老外，正听着iPod里面的音乐，嘴角微动随着音乐吟唱。胸前那块过塑胸牌告诉我他是去参加某个展会。老外瞅瞅周围又瞅瞅他斜对面蹲着的那个人，似乎发现了什么。只见他把iPod锁定好，放进右裤兜里，然后用另一只手从左裤兜里掏出一些钱，有外币也有人民币。他挑了张50的人民币，开始用手对折起来。 开始我以为他要折个船或者纸鹤什么的，没想到他一直折啊折，直到折成不到小拇指大的小不点。他俯身向前左右看了看，然后顺势把手伸到对面蹲着的那人面前，他朝他点点头，示意他接着。那人惊奇地看着这位老外，拘谨地接过小不点。接着老外很快把手收了回来。 地铁这时已到会展中心，车门即将打开。老外起身，朝那人微笑并挥挥手，拖着箱子走出了地铁。地铁继续行驶着。突然车厢里传来砰砰的声音，原来是那个蹲着的人正吃力地挪向车门边！这时我才惊奇地看到，他双腿已经萎缩蜷曲，靠移动左右手上的木手柄行走！他是一位重度残疾人！ 老外的小不点在车厢里几乎没有引起任何注意，他在帮助的同时也考虑到了帮助对象的尊严。回想整个过程的低调，都让我感慨万千。 January 19 Bikini girl, the biggest drama queen in Idol history everTwo weeks ago I thought the TV series were about to enter a hibernation phase, who knows the calendar just turned a new year and my favorite TV shows American Idol Season 8 and Kyle XY Season 3 were coming back to me!
A beautiful lady joined in the panel in this season, she is Kara DioGuardi, a composer & singer songwriter. In the beginning of the first episode, it flashed back to some pieces of the previous seasons, followed by Ryan standing on the edge of the spectacular Grand Canyon announcing the kick off of the new season starts from Phoenix, Arizona.
Episode 1 was as hot as Arizona, but the biggest gossip was the bikini girl Katrina Darrel, who was given pretty much time and film generously by FOX producers. Not only was her entrance cheered up by AQUA’s Barbie Girl, but also her exit escorted by Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl. Before she stepped into the audition room, she promised to Ryan if she made it she would make out with him when she wraps up the audition. Ryan made a very stunning look when he heard of such words, probably he had never met such an open girl behaving like that right in front of a state TV channel!
Well, when Katrina presented herself in front of the four judges, all of them were blown away by her daring appearance. Kara especially requested her to rotate in front of them, Simon stared at her with his eyes widest open while she was rotating, lol`` Katrina began to sing with her sluggish voice, to be honest, her singing was not too good not too bad. Soon after Katrina finished her singing, Simon and Randy both said “yes” to her performance, which was shocking to the ladies, Kara in particular, trying to figure out whether it was her singing or her bikini made the two gentlemen say yes. Naturally Kara couldn’t help to sing the song again in her version, an even bigger surprise was Katrina shrugged her off and talked back to Kara: “Your demonstration wasn’t any better!” Kara instantly tossed the papers in the air and rose to her feet, in the meantime, Paula also stood up and gave a big bang on the table warning Katrina shouldn’t have said that! Kara sang the song again to the arrogant bi*ch when Paula stopped her in the middle. The unprecedented catfight came to an end. Finally two ladies said yes to Katrina, Kara told her better come naked next time. Although Katrina’s show time with the panel had finished, her promise to Ryan several minutes ago was about to come true. Ryan wasn’t standing near the exit interviewing the contestants as usual, he was definitely hiding from Katrina. Finally Katrina got him beside the pool, she pressed Ryan’s head onto her face and kissed him! God, what a drama queen she is!!
Another two very impressive contestants were Ariana Afsara and Scott Macintyre. Ariana impressed me because she somewhat looked like Michelle Branch. Despite she was young as 16, she was confident but not conceited. Most importantly she had a kind heart for she goes to performing for senior citizens once a month. Scott was another contestant anyone would remember when heard of his inspiring story. He was born blind except a little tunnel vision, but he had a good attitude on life. Since he as blind he devoted all his efforts to explore the sound around, he practiced the piano very young. At the moment turned up the background music, it was Coldplay’s new single “Lost”, AI’s background music was always so emotional and punctual. I hope the talented boy will sail through to the Kodak Theater months later.
This season kicked off with a whole new judge, as far as the first two episodes concerned, Kara was a good judge and I think she will successfully integrate with the other three, and I'm also expecting to see more talented contestants in the upcoming episodes. May 22 Come Out Of The ShadeLately I've been a big fan of Kyle XY, a science fiction about a boy who is special and remarkably intelligent. Actually it is more than normal cold science fiction, it extends to friendship, love, family and every heart warming pieces of life, that's what makes this drama unique.
Another thing that makes the drama stand out is its amazing soundtrack, always so appropriate and so unforgetable...I googled its soundtracks and found more than a hundred of them in only one season! wow, that was really awesome cuz I never saw a drama had so many soundtracks. I just can't help indulging in the gentle sound.
 Kyle XY is a remarkably intelligent boy without belly button I especially like "Closer" played when Kyle and Amanda were talking in the tub and "Come Out Of The Shade" when they were dancing at the end of episode 7. And since today was day 1 after 3 days of national mourning for the victims of the 8.0-magnitude Sichuan earthquake, the lyrics of "Come Out Of The Shade" are strikingly fitting into the national mood, encouraging the survivors to walk out of the shade and move on with their lives.

Tomorrow I am heading back to Shenzhen, a place where I am graudally bonding to. I do love southern tropical cities in that they provide me with crystal blue sky and giant tall trees instead of haziness and sand in the air here. Tens of thousands of people lost their lives in the horrible catastrophe in just a few seconds, I begin to remind myself of not asking more from life. Sometimes a getting-by attitude will do you a big favor.

April 19 杭州软环境：英文景点介绍杭州作为中国最佳旅游城市是实至名归，这可从其市区景点的英译文可见一斑。景点的翻译往往是旅游城市致命伤，弄不好就会出笑话。经典的例子是“小心落水”被译作"carefully fall into the water"（意为请游客小心的落入水中），其实应该译作"Beware of water" or "Step away from deep water"。不过杭州在这一点上做得很好，主要景点的英译文和导游册都能完全对应，而且译文绝对经过浙大旅游翻译专家的润色。下面举例西湖十景的例子： 西湖十景分别是： 苏堤春晓 Spring Dawn at Su Causeway 曲院风荷 Winery Yard and Lotus Pond 平湖秋月 Autumn Moon over the Calm Lake 断桥残雪 Lingering Snow on the Broken Bridge 花港观鱼 Viewing Fish at Flower Pond 柳浪闻莺 Orioles Singing in the Willows 三潭印月 Three Pools Mirroring the Moon 双峰插云 Twin Peaks Piercing the Cloud 南屏晚钟 Evening Bell Ringing at Nanping Hill 雷峰夕照 Leifeng Pagoda in Evening Glow 怎么样？译得不错吧！难得的是在景区的各个路标及介绍中都统一了标准，而且译文完全是按照老外的语言习惯处理，不至于让老外摸不着头脑。当初写论文的时候就借鉴了些杭州旅游翻译的例子，杭州丰富的旅游景点加上对外宣传的需要，其景区英文翻译我觉得是比较满意的，传达了景点名称的主旨，而并非局限于文字格式。从这点看杭州的确在软环境的建设方面下了不少功夫，这也是为什么这么多老外慕名前往的原因。 April 15 杭州印象23:40从karaoke回到酒店，想测试下网络，还不错，加上明天不用早起，于是埋头码字。 上周得知得知要去杭州出差的消息后，去过的同事都告诉我这个时节去杭州是最好不过了。阳春三月的西湖，苏堤，三潭印月，林隐寺……还有些非常诗意的景点名，四个字儿的，还没去就已经被名字浪漫得一塌糊涂了（受巴黎小宝的渲染，她在巴黎浪漫得死去活来的，玫瑰蜂蜜，玫瑰茶，玫瑰everything...嘿嘿）。04年去上海路过杭州，当初就对当地的民居很是感兴趣。对杭州的介绍一直定位在柔美秀丽的江南水乡，女人的天堂，不知道是男人的什么…… 深圳天气晴朗，湛蓝的天空漂浮着朵朵白云（汗！小学生句式）。飞机升空水平后我从窗户看到天空有月亮，居然旁边还有一小白点！！我一惊，莫非有啥外星来客？！再仔细一看原来是架客机，在我们上空约一千米的位置，直线距离超过两三千米，因为确实太小了，根据尾巴上的红点我估计是深航航班！以前了解过各航线水平高度不一样，以免发生意外，今天算是见着了。本来窗外除了蓝天白云啥也没有，能够看到另一架飞机，感觉不再那么孤独！ 进入浙江省境内以后就再也看不到蓝天白云了，全被灰蒙蒙的雾气所笼罩，空乘人员老早前就告诉我们飞机在下降，不过降了快20分钟才看到下面的地貌，貌似这边的雾气好重！（烟雨蒙蒙的西湖估计更要浪漫得一蹋糊涂）终于可以隐隐约约看到地貌了，忽然发现很多蓝色的东西，开始以为是池塘，一想养鱼也不至于把鱼塘做成泳池那样吧；又一想那就是泳池咯，但是怎么可能有这么多大大小小密密麻麻的泳池呢？再说杭州夏季也不长，修这么多泳池不亏死去。等到可以看清楚的时候才发现原来是房子的屋顶！厌倦了黑色的屋顶，蓝色的屋顶让城市充满的生气，青岛红色的屋顶也很亮眼。除了蓝色的房顶，还有很多修得类似于欧洲城堡的小型别墅，大约四五层，尖尖的屋顶顶和欧式阁楼小天窗。不过更让人欣喜的是一行行绿油油整齐划一的蔬菜瓜果地，很是感叹这里劳动人民的美学，把蔬菜瓜果地都做得那么美。萧山算是杭州郊区了，把郊区能建设得这么规整确实厉害！（没带数据线，不能传照片了，只能等回去了补） 16:40，飞机准时抵达萧山国际机场。外面飘着点小雨，17度的温度很舒服，不冷也不热。同事刚好到机场接我们。 机场到市区的道路很好，防护栏也是蓝色的（杭州人确实偏爱蓝色），其他地方的高速护栏都是铅灰色。两边的别墅整齐的排列着，颜色也不是单一的白色，而是参杂了些亮色系，给人感觉很有活力。沿途过了一座桥，估计是跨钱塘江的。十分惊讶的是大桥汽车不堵车，居然自行车道上的自行车摩托车堵得半死，第一次见到自行车摩托车也堵死的情况。同事告诉我们这是下班高峰，很多人过江。进入市区后的感觉是街道不宽，但很整洁清爽，可能下了点下雨的缘故。人们都那么的享受着小雨，没有人因为天气而愁眉苦脸。 我们入住的瑞丰格琳酒店（名字听起来都优雅），属于Best Western Premier集团，据说是全球最大单体酒店连锁集团（不懂啥意思）。惊讶的是这家精品酒店居然位于一小区内而不是大街旁，不过这样更凸显它的别致，环境非常安静。整体来说还是处于核心地带，离西湖景区仅5分钟，离公司走路也就不到十分钟。 安顿完了就是吃饭了，喝了点酒（每次都不可避免，不过我酒量很小，纯粹是见机行事），饭后同事提议去唱K，就我们五个男的（本来想叫点喜欢唱歌的同事的，但是都9点了，估计大家都准备睡觉了，还是罢了）。银乐迪。我唱了Ronan Keating的When you say nothing at all和Westlife的Flying without wings，前一首歌只要K厅有我一般都会唱。由于里头就我是80后的，后来他们就专唱老歌了，看能唤起多少记忆，连《让我们荡起双桨》、《闪闪的红星》都唱了orz..我在浏览曲库的时候惊讶的发现这里的歌非常新，居然连刚发行专辑的Colbie Callait的Bubbly都有，还有去年发行专辑的Katherine McPhee的Over it, Fergie的Glamorous也有！然后Five,Black Eyed Peas,Hilary Duff的歌都有！！超级男生的歌也有，包括姚政，俞灏明，王栎鑫都有，而且还注明了银乐迪专供！看来他们的歌曲来源还是有一定的渠道的，至少连美国新进歌手的hit song都有收集，赞一个！ 在杭州会呆上一段时间了，有机会好好品味下这个历史文化名城，体验下浪漫得一塌糊涂是什么滋味？！ 一不小心就8了这么多，创了纪录了，汗！（大家将就着看） ps:昨天晚上看天涯帖子看到快两点，都是关于奥运火炬传递的。ZD分子的干扰让火炬在欧美的传递出现了不和谐的一幕，不过看到国外华人为捍卫祖国尊严自发的游行，我是心潮澎湃啊！！100%全力支持他们！！我会继续关注的，希望下个月火炬到达我们那里的时候有时间能亲自去看看！！ Torch relay is a touchstone differentiating fact from fiction. April 02 Alluring welfare of rare companiesThis morning I was knocked out by a piece of news introducing the good welfare of some enterprises in Pearl River delta. These welfare items, claimed by the welfare specialists in these enterprises, serve as the countermeasures for the new employment contract law came into effect on Jan. 1 this year. The news quoted some words of employees from CVT group (广州视源) and P&G in Guangzhou. In CVT, employees are served with free snacks and food 24 hours and they are allowed to take a nap during the work any time they want, nobody will keep an eye on them! The astounding welfare item in CVT is health insurance. The company promises to pay the medical expense of dread disease for the employees ranging from tens of thousand to several hundreds of thousand yuan! Most inexplicably, it will take on certain proportion of medical expense for the employees' direct relatives! That's the most munificent welfare item I've ever heard! P&G's measures are even more alluring! As a top 500 American company, P&G Guangzhou opens up special rooms for massage and yoga at workplace, employees can do massage and yoga any time they feel unwell during work days. And that's not the point. P&G allows the staff of non-production departments to work at home for one day every week, so they have only FOUR work days each week! Besides, it offers 10-20 work days of annual leave, 17-29 work days of family leave, and two more days off for Spring Festival and Christmas respectively! Deducting festivals and leaves, the annual office days at P&G are narrowed down to as few as around 150 days, hitting a historic low in China and equally in Europe I think. I'm not sure whether they are sugarcoated or not. Search engine giants Google and Baidu merely offer trinkets at workplace to relieve the tension of IT workers, while CVT and P&G grasp a leading position by extending to essential welfare items that have significant bearings on staff's benefits. Still, they are not typical enough to represent the average corporations. Not all companies survived the transformation and many transferred their companies from Pearl River delta, the biggest manufacturing base in China, to Southeast Asian countries of cheaper labor force, like Viet Nam and Laos. It is said that the implementation of new employment contract law throttled numerous small and medium enterprises by encroaching on their profits. CVT and P&G set good examples of better interpretations for new employment contract law. To roll out these welfare items to average companies is impractical and infeasible for the moment, but they give us infinite insights in how to seize excellent employees, increase competitive edge and foster a sense of belonging among the staff under the new circumstance of rising CPI and labor force in China. 结束两天的会议后的周末我们驱车前往三亚，第一站是蜈支洲岛，此岛颇小，不过有着非常清澈的海水。 碧浪，白沙，蓝天（怎么都是商标名@_@） pose,pose,pose!!
在岛上用完自助餐后，我即和其他8人一起去潜水，虽然极其昂贵，同事说明年来会更贵，于是就豁出去了。开始很不适应在水下用嘴巴呼吸，每次都狂呼气吸气，没弄两下就口渴了，还问教练要水喝，汗！！后来不小心喝了两口海水，那个咸啊~~后面就咬住呼吸嘴不放松，均匀呼吸，原来海底真的很美！！我这个旱鸭子居然也潜到了18米的海底，和珊瑚鱼儿近距离接触。 穿了潜水服，我变胖啦~~ 原来水下这么明亮! 不能碰珊瑚，别伤着它们了 ok,ok,im doin fine~~this little yellow fish is cute~~ 上岸后的日光浴 beach volleyball court just have fun...

From the mass audition to the Hollywood week to the current top 20 (4 voted off already), all the contestants went through a long journey, but not long enough till the FINAL idol is revealed! Who is gonna be the lucky dog and join in Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks this year? And for the boys. Sadly they didn't impress me as much as those girls except for David Archuleta and Michael Johns. David's Shop Around really knocked everybody out including someone as critical as Simon! As a 17-year-old high school student, he vividly translated the desire of an adult man for women in his style through dual time layer, cuz it was a 1960s hit and he is underage. Even it was my first time to listen to that song, but it felt like David was the original. He was the judges' pet because Randy, Paula and Simon had never said any negative word to the young kid. As I said, David A. may go top 5 with Simon's escort. Michael Johns is the oldestone among the boys, and he also did a better job in 1960s song round. Idol is more than a splendid music reality show. It's all about passion, perseverance and most importantly pursuing your dream. That's why it is still so thriving even after 6 years of progress. |
